The National Retail Federation (NRF) Conference is an important event for anyone in the retail industry, offering a chance to explore new innovations shaping the future of retail. At NRF 2024, Datascan had the opportunity to share the latest developments in retail technology, focused on enhancing inventory management. With insights from key members of our team, including Herb Billings, Vice President of Innovation & Product Strategy, Adrian Thomas, CEO & President, and Mark Belmer, Chief Revenue Officer, we explored how our integrated RFID and barcode solutions are helping retailers streamline operations and improve inventory accuracy.
A key theme from the event was the introduction of a new process developed by our team to improve trust in inventory counts using RFID technology. Herb Billings and Mark Belmer discussed how this innovation enhances the visibility and reliability of inventory data, a critical component for effective retail operations.
“We’ve recently patented a process to add a layer of trust to inventory counts using RFID technology.” Belmer went on to add, “Our primary goal is to help our customers, whether with new or existing managers. You can’t manage your inventory without counting it.”
Accurate inventory data is vital for efficient operations, and our new process is designed to minimize the uncertainty that can sometimes accompany inventory management. By improving the reliability of RFID data, we aim to give retailers the confidence they need to make more informed business decisions.
Supporting Retailers at Every Stage
Adrian Thomas also shared an important update about Datascan’s expanded ability to support a range of inventory needs. Whether retailers are using barcode scanning or RFID technology, our solutions are adaptable to a variety of retail environments.
Adrian shared:
“We now believe that with Datascan's history with barcodes, we can now span any retailer’s need for counting inventory and managing inventory of a store.”
This flexibility is a key part of our approach—whether a retailer is just beginning to implement RFID or is looking to improve an existing barcode system, our tools are designed to grow with their business. This versatility helps retailers find the right fit for their inventory management processes, no matter where they are on their technology adoption journey.
Tailoring Solutions to Evolving Retail Needs
Mark Belmer emphasized that Datascan’s solutions are designed to evolve with the changing needs of retailers. Whether a retailer is new to automated inventory tracking or has years of experience with RFID, our tools are built to scale, improving both efficiency and accuracy over time. With retail operations becoming increasingly complex, having the ability to manage inventory in real time is more important than ever. Our commitment to providing adaptable, reliable solutions helps retailers navigate these challenges, ensuring that their inventory management systems continue to meet the demands of their business as it grows.
As NRF 2024 came to a close, it was clear that technology's role in inventory management will only grow. Datascan’s efforts to enhance RFID reliability and offer flexible solutions that work across both RFID and barcode systems are helping to bridge the gap between manual and automated inventory processes.
